On September 1, 2015, Juniata County Radio became not only the only radio station broadcasting live in Juniata County, but the only station to broadcast high school sports from both Juniata & East Juniata High Schools. Juniata County Radio was created to fill the gap that WJUN leaving left by former employees and concerned citizens interested in keeping as many local sports as possible on the air. Covering both schools comes with a lot of expensive costs. Before JCR even can go on the air, we have to pay for the website, broadcasting & recording software, streaming services, broadcasting equipment, straightalk fees, and equipment maintenance, which comes to close to $2,000 per school each year. Juniata County Radio now has around 10 people, paid and volunteer, helping to cover high school sports to the best of our ability. Without the support of local businesses sponsoring us, we would not be able to continue to provide high schools sports coverage. Essentially, the local businesses are what keeps Juniata County Radio up and running. This year we have close to 30 sponsors for high school sports, which is way more than we ever had before for Friday Night Football, which traditionally is our most listened to event and usually has the most sponsors. However, this year almost every sponsor has stayed on through the Winter and Spring. This is allowing us to broadcast more Winter and Spring sports than ever before from both schools. We thank the local businesses for their support, and we ask you, the listener, to CLICK HERE to view all of our sponsors and to be sure to support them. Because without them, we would not be able to cover nearly as many sports as we do now. Again, thank you for your support of us, and for your support of local businesses and SHOPPING LOCAL!!!
