PORT ROYAL CHRISTMAS PARADE WILL CLOSE ROUTE 75 SATURDAY EVENING


Port Royal Borough will host their annual Christmas parade on Saturday, December 13 at 5:30pm. The parade will close Route 75/Market Street at that time.


Anyone traveling through the area should seek an alternate route.



LEWISTOWN MAN CHARGED WITH STRANGULATION, SIMPLE ASSAULT


Lewistown Police responded to a domestic related assault on North Grand Street in Lewistown, Mifflin County.


A female spoke with Lewistown Police and reported being assaulted multiple times throughout the prior day. The female showed several bruises and lacerations in addition to telling officers she had been choked. She had red marks on her neck as wel.


Justin Haywood, 35 of Lewistown, told police that the female had fallen down and he had helped her back up. Haywood stated that is what caused the marks.


Haywood was taken into custody at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility where he was charged with Strangulation, Simple Assault, and Harassment.



LEWISTOWN FATAL GUN INCIDENT


Lewistown Police responded to Shaw Avenue in Lewistown, Mifflin County.


A complaint was received about a male sitting on a porch holding a high-powered rifle. The individual was making suicidal statements and had possibly been recently abusing drugs.


Lewistown Police attempted to make a tactical approach to the recidence. When officers called out the victims name from a short distance away, the male discharged the firearm. The discharge caused an immediately fatal self inflicted gunshot wound to the male.


No officers were injured in the incident. A detective investigated the incident and police body cameras were reviewed as part of an administrative review.


Police were assisted at the scene by fire and EMS.


Following the incident, Lewistown Police released the following statement:

WALKER TOWNSHIP FALSE CHECKS.


Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown recieved a report of false checks in Walker Township, Juniata County.


A 64 year old Mifflintown woman reported to PSP that someone cashed a fake check from the victim's bank account. The check was valued at $1,750.


The bank is investigating the incident.



MONROE TOWNSHIP RETAIL THEFT


Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove responded to the Sheetz store in Monroe Township, Snyder County for an incident of retail theft.


Upon investigation, PSP discovered that four males, believed to be juveniles, entered the store and stole six 12 packs of Twisted Tea 12 ounce cans, valued at $20.39 each,


The males were driven away by a female in a black Jeep. An investigation is ongoing.
